Two: Division of the Flesh

Two is the division of mankind.  For from the beginning man was divided into two: man and woman.  But in the end two shall be made one, oneness with God.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) The Hebrew word for “in the beginning” is בדאשית. And the first letter of the Torah is bet ב, which in Hebrew has the numerical value of two. And the origin of bet comes from the Phoenician letter byt which gave rise to the Greek letter β. And beta too has the numerical value of two. Thus, the first stroke of the Bible symbolizes the dual nature of His creation, and the dual nature of His Son, and the dual nature of His people, and the dual nature of our works.
